About Mushroom Newswire

Your daily dispatch from the fungal frontier.

Mushroom Newswire is a public-facing news aggregator covering the full breadth of the mushroom world — from peer-reviewed mycology research and biotech innovation to foraging guides, cultivation tutorials, and the rapidly shifting landscape of psilocybin policy.

We exist because the field is moving fast and the good reporting on it is scattered. Research papers live behind journal paywalls. Foraging wisdom hides in seasonal blog posts. Psychedelic-medicine news breaks across a half-dozen specialist publications. Industry announcements get buried in startup press releases. Pulling these threads into one daily feed — sorted by category, lightly summarized, and always linking back to the source — is the whole point.

How it works

We monitor 21hand-picked sources across six categories: research, news & culture, psychedelics, foraging, cultivation, and industry & biotech. New articles are pulled in once a day, deduplicated, and tagged. A short blurb is generated for each item by a language model (Claude Haiku) to help you decide whether to click through. Every headline links directly to the original publisher; we don’t reproduce full article text and we don’t monetize someone else’s work.

Our curation choices favor signal over volume. We avoid community firehoses (sightings sites, social-media reposts) in favor of editorial publications and primary research. If a source starts drowning out the rest of the wire, we cap it or rotate it out.

About the summaries

Every short blurb you see beneath an article headline was generated by an AI model based on the article’s title and excerpt. AI summaries are best-effort navigation aids — they can occasionally misread tone, miss nuance, or hallucinate detail. They are not a substitute for reading the source. When the topic matters to you (especially in research and policy), follow the link.

A note on scope

Mushroom Newswire publishes summaries of public information and links to original publishers. It is not a medical, legal, or financial advisor. Information about psilocybin, foraging, and medicinal mushrooms is provided for educational purposes only; regulations vary widely by jurisdiction and physiology varies widely by individual. Always consult qualified professionals before acting on anything you read here.
